Meditation Therapy in Fort Worth, Texas
Meditation
Mindfulness and Mindful Self-Compassion have been very helpful to me personally, and I have also invested a lot of time learning how to teach others. I use Mindfulness extensively with individual clients, and I also teach the 8-Week Mindful Self-Compassion course.
Meditation brings many benefits to those who practice. It helps solve problems like:
stress
insomnia
physical pain
hypertension
post-traumatic stress disorder
depression
anxiety
relapse
fear of failure
anger
Meditation also strengthens the positive aspects of life:
wellbeing
peak performance
energy
positive relationships
positive motivation
insight
healthy behaviors (diet, exercise)
quality sleep
conscientiousness
resilience
life satisfaction
happiness
curiosity
creativity
gratitude
In short, meditation is very good stuff!
However, it's one thing to know that meditation is good for you, and another thing to practice it regularly.
That's where I might be useful to you. I'm a regular guy with stress, pressure, natural laziness, and a tendency to want to find the shortcut solution to any problem if I possibly can. And yet I meditate daily, despite those facts (or is that because of them?).
As a regular guy, I've learned strategies that are both straightforward to practice and highly effective. When I teach meditation, I do so while keeping in mind your challenges with stress, time pressure, and your motivational reality. Together we find practices that truly fit you, and that help you so much that you naturally keep coming back to them.
After learning Mindfulness Meditation (including from it's founder, Jon Kabat-Zinn), I practiced and taught Mindfulness for 15 years. Then I encountered a newer approach called Mindful Self-compassion while on a retreat at a desert monastery. Mindful Self-Compassion resonated deeply with me, and so I sought and trained with the founders - Kristin Neff and Chris Germer.
I think you will love learning Mindful Self-compassion because it brings a kind and comfortable warmth to the present-in-this-moment practice of mindfulness, and it is deeply healing.
